Here is my latest oil painting. This is based on a drawing I did a while back. I call it "After the Cruxcifiction".
The scene depicts heartbreak, grief, death and dispair, as the two angels assist Jesus after his death on the cross. Jesus face is somewhat distorted, for I wanted to convey what he might look like after such horrific suffering and death. His crown of thorns lies at his feet. This is a very moving painting for Christians, for Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice! Jesus was a sacrifice because - when God tore the veil in two from top to bottom when Jesus died - it meant that Christ's death opened an unobstructed way to God (Matthew 27:51). This is a very unique original painting it is 11 X 14 on Canvas Board, Unframed. This painting took several days to complete, because of the small detail of faces, and the angel figures.
Jesus loves you so much that He was willing to give up all His power and reputation as God to come in the form of a servant and to be clothed with flesh as a man, just like you and me. He made himself like a part of His own creation. He humbled himself to become like us for the purpose of giving us eternal life. He gave up His eternal life so that we could have it. He gave up being with God so that we could live with God forever.
